Composite piping

The production of composite materials is rapidly developing. Made up of fibreglass and resin, they offer important advantages because of their properties:

  • light weight
  • mechanical resistance
  • chemical resistance
  • no maintenance required
  • resistance to fire
  • free shapes, flexibility (radius of curve, possibility to install on storage tanks)
  • short time to delivery

They prolong the life cycle of these networks thanks to their mechanical properties (rigidity, resistance to fatigue), as well as their chemical properties (resistance to corrosion). Security is another important point, particularly with regard to resistance to fire and pressure (security coefficient 4 to 6 times the nominal pressure of the tube).

Depending on the characteristics of the mould and the reinforcements, we can distinguish two categories: epoxy or vinylester thermosetting composites.

By using composite piping, SBPI is able to handle the issues of weight and corrosion often encountered by manufacturers, whether because of the environment, the conditions of use, or the fluids transported.

The range of possibilities for installation covers:

  • Ø 25mm to 1600mm (1" to 64 ")
  • maximum temperature 120°C (250°F), pressure up to 300 bars (4410 PSI)
  • various fluids (petroleum, oils, seawater, chemicals, etc.)

This type of material needs no maintenance and lasts for a long time, due to its resistance to corrosion, both internal and external.

Installation is easy and cost effective. No welding is required, so there are no hot points. Its light weight makes handling easy and requires no heavy equipment. Special tube elements can be prefabricated in our workshops for even faster installation on site.
